Julia Harrison I was born and spent my childhood years in Cheshire south of Manchester, where I remained as a student. I moved to Bedfordshire for my job some years ago and have enjoyed living in the North Beds villages since. I am currently a project manager in a FMCG company. My son went to a North Beds lower school and spent four happy years at Margaret Beaufort middle school (MB) before moving on now to SUS. I have been a school governor for over 11 years and have spent the last 3 of those on the SAF GB as a parent governor. I currently chair the Margaret Beaufort LGB.
Maximising each child’s potential to learn and be well equipped for life is what drew me to become a parent governor at MBMS in September 2014. I believe passionately that education opens up opportunities in life and I see my role as both challenging and supporting MBMS to reach the highest standards for each child. I am self-employed and undertake a wide variety of work including acting as an Assessor for a professional body; working as an Independent Member for Police Misconduct Hearings in the Eastern Region; and working as a Psychotherapist. I find that all these skills are useful in the role of governor and also in helping to set the strategic direction for the school’
I moved to Bedfordshire 4 years ago and have enjoyed living in Sharnbrook since. My two sons now attend Margaret Beaufort middle school and enjoy the wide range of activities the school offers. In 1998 I qualified as a primary teacher and I am currently Assistant Headteacher of a Junior School in Northamptonshire. I have been a school governor for over 8 years and I am currently a parent representative on Margaret Beaufort’s LGB..
Surviving a childhood growing up in Essex, I qualified as a teacher in 1972. I started my career at Goldington Secondary School and in 1979 ended up as Head of Science and pastoral head of year 7 at Margaret Beaufort Middle School by way of Daubeney Middle School. I retired 32 years later having had a very rewarding career, teaching everything except music and FFT. During my time at Margaret Beaufort I served as a teacher representative on both the Margaret Beaufort Governing Body and the Federation Governing Body. I have a strong interest in sport and the performing arts and spend a lot of my free time indulging in those activities. I am the community representative on the LGB.
